School & Youth Groups
The world is changing and here at Holiday, we’re changing with it! Spending our summer reviewing and adjusting all our School Group protocols to ensure that kids can continue to enjoy the great outdoors in a safe and fun environment. Stay tuned friends. Hoping to see you all later in 2021 when it is safe and legal to do so.
With a dedicated group of Nationally Certified Instructors, we set the standard for instructional programs. Whether you’re planning a trip for a Public or Private School, Youth Group, or Home School Program – we will coordinate with you to make sure that your students have the best possible day in the snowy outdoors! Our unique program focuses on safety, education & above all, fun! Be Fit. Be Active. Enjoy Winter Sports!
Prior to arrival:
- Give us a call to arrange a date. Once booked, you will receive a confirmation email.
- The Resort offers 1 complimentary supervisor lift & rental package for every 10 students. Additional adults will be entitled to the student price.
- Need a bus? Let us help! Ask our Office Team, we’ll make the Bus Booking for you.
- When planning your transportation to the Resort, please note: All students participating in the trip must arrive together in order to receive their safety briefing upon arrival.
- Helmets are now mandatory on School Trips. Proper helmets are required and can be rented from the Resort. Hockey & Bicycle helmets will not be permitted.
Upon arrival:
Your group will be greeted by a member of the Snow School and given a short safety briefing on the bus. You will then be taken to a designated area where you can store your belongings, eat, and gather.
School Programs
After the safety speech, students are then led as a group into the rental shop. A short rental form is filled out with the students name, height & weight. Lift tickets are then applied to the student’s jackets, boots are fitted, skis & snowboards are set and helmets are sized. It is helpful to notify the students in advance that toques worn under the helmets must be smooth. No pom-poms or cute little ears, or protrusions of any kind will be permitted in order to ensure the proper fit of the helmet.
Once the students have their lift tickets and equipment, they are directed to the Beginner Area. First-time skiers/boarders are taken immediately into a lesson. Those that have skied or boarded before participate in a “Ski-Off” on the bunny hill. One of our Nationally-Certified Instructors will observe their ability level and mark them accordingly. While we appreciate that parents are often able to accurately describe their child’s ability level, all students will be assessed by the Resort’s instructors.
Student Marking System
Our instructors will place stickers on the students helmets that have been custom designed to correspond with the run ratings. Beginner = Green Circle. Intermediate = Blue Square. Advanced = Black Diamond. Orange Pill = Expert, Terrain Park Features. Each sticker will have the students initials written on it, to ensure that the students can’t trade marks or helmets. Supervisor vests are available free of charge for those schools that don’t bring their own Supervisor marking system.
Students are required to stay on only the runs that they are rated for. This ensures that they do not attempt to navigate a run that is beyond their current ability level. Students will not be allowed up the chairlifts without a color. Upgrade Lessons are available at 11:30, 1:00 & 2:00 daily.
Planning Ski & Snowboard Trips in ManitobaHoliday Mountain is fully compliant with all the guidelines and recommendations that are set out in this Manual.
